Lack of sanitary pads keeps 15% of schoolgirls in West Budama County, (WBC), Uganda, away from school during their monthly cycles.

Villagetocollege, a 501c3 charity, is seeking $5,500 to provide sanitary pads to 200 adolescent girls at Okwira Primary School in WBC in the next school year which begins on Feb. 3, 2025. A family in Okwira lives on less than $1 a day. It costs $3 to buy pads for one month.

Frequent absence from school has both academic and non-academic effects on girl students:
a) Their performance drops and they fall short of their educational outcomes.
b) They experience greater school-related stress that affects their motivation.
c) They exhibit reduced interpersonal skills as they experience reduced sense of belonging.
